TMNT: April's Angel

It was a rainy night in New York. April was having a hard day with school and her Aunt so she decided to stay at the lair.

Leonardo and Raphael were training in the dojo and Michelangelo was playing video games. That only left one turtle she could talk to…Donatello.

She knew that he would be working on something, but he always had time for her, which is why he was the first one to go to whenever something was wrong.

April took in a deep breath and knocked on his door.

“Who is it?” Donnie asked to make sure it wasn’t one of his brothers trying to bug him, mainly Mikey.

“I-it’s April” she replied nervously.

“Come in” Donnie said. April hesitatingly opened the door slowly. Donnie turned to look and saw that she was looking at the floor. “April, what’s wrong?”

April looked up with a tear in her eye. All of a sudden, she passed out.

“April!” Donnie exclaimed. He ran up to her and checked on her.

The next day, Donnie was walking April home on the roofs.

“Thanks for walking me home, Donnie” April said.

“No problem” Donnie replied. They approached April’s apartment.

“Well, here we are” April said.

“Y-yeah” Donnie said rubbing the back of his neck. They looked at each other’s eyes and leaned toward each other to kiss.

All of a sudden, a noise was heard and Donnie looked.

“What is it, Donnie?” April asked.

“I heard something” Donnie replied. He pushed her behind him and took out his staff. Another noise was heard and Donnie looked to his right. The Foot Clan hopped down around them and surrounded them. April and Donnie looked around and Donnie got ready to fight.

Karai came in between two foot ninjas.

“Well, well, well” Karai began. “If it isn’t the smart one and his girlfriend.”

“She’s not my girlfriend!” Donnie exclaimed.

“Okay, okay, Mr. Genius” Karai said.

“What do you want?” April asked.

“I just want answers” Karai replied. “Tell me where Splinter is and I’ll spare your lives.” She smiled slyly.

“I’ll never tell you where Splinter is!” Donnie exclaimed.

“Alright, then…your loss” Karai said as she got ready to fight.

She glared at Donnie then glanced over at April. Karai went to stab April. April just stood there. Donnie saw this and jumped in front of her, taking the stab to his side. Donnie fell to the ground with Karai’s sword still in him. April went over to him and held him in her lap.

“Well, my work here is done” Karai said as she walked to the edge of the roof. April glared at her. “Sayonara.” She hopped off the roof and the Foot Clan followed.

April looked at Donnie with tears in her eyes. “Donnie, come on. Please be okay. Donnie, please answer me.” Donnie groaned and looked at April through half-closed eyes.

“A-April…” Donnie muttered.

“Yeah, Donnie, I’m right here” April said. “We’ve gotta get you home, we’ve gotta get you help–”

“April, April listen to me…” April looked at him now crying “I…I lo…lo…” with that last breath, he fell limp in April’s arms.

“No…Donnie, no” April cried. “Please don’t die…please don’t die!” Donnie didn’t respond. She put her head on his chest and cried then everything turned white.

…

“April?” Donnie asked.

April opened her eyes to a blurred Donatello. “April, are you alright?” He asked.

“D…Donnie?” April asked. Donnie was wiping her head with a warm cloth. “W…what happened?” She asked as she sat up. Donnie laid her back down.

“You passed out and hit your head” Donnie explained. “You’ve been out since last night.”

“I had the weirdest dream” April said. She realized then sat up and looked at Donnie’s side. “Are you okay?”

“April, I’m fine” Donnie replied. “You’re the one that hit your head; you should be more concerned about yourself.”

April looked at Donnie with tears in her eyes. “April what–” April hugged him and started sobbing quietly into his plastron. Donnie was shocked at first, but then he hugged her back and stroked her hair. “It’s okay, April. I’m here” He said softly trying to comfort her.

April continued to sob as Donnie held her. They sat like this for a few minutes. April finally calmed down enough to tell Donnie what happened in her dream.

After April explained the dream, Donnie just stared at her eyes, those pools of blue beauties. April started to sob again and Donnie just held her tightly.

“April…” Donnie began “…I promise that no matter what happens…I will always be your angel.”

April looked up at Donnie and into his red-brown eyes…the eyes that she loved so much. He smiled that famous gaped-tooth smile at her and she smiled back. He leaned toward her and gave her a peck on the lips. Then they kissed passionately.

After a minute, they broke the kiss and stared at each other with a smile on their face. Then they hugged.

It was then that April knew she was in love with Donnie…and that he would be her angel for now and always.
